wearing out your yellow hula dress

Back from Canada. The wedding was wonderful (best. wedding. ever.), the cakes were sublime and many thanks to dagibbs for letting us crash at his place.

Okay, now to finish getting dressed so I can go to Edgewood and work on things I meant to do yesterday/on the trip, but didn't have a chance to.

To do:
-Personal journal entry (we're learning to journal in my Cultural Journalism class. Yeah, I laughed too)
-Immunology paper critique
-Independent project proposal for Botany
-Study for Immunology exam on Friday
-Cancel dinner with my Mom, because I don't have time

I'm doing good, I feel about 1000x more sane than this time last year (or the year before). Roommate situation is well and my room is consistently cleaner than it has been in ages (same with the bathroom, lets not talk about the fridge...).

Classes are going well so far this semester. I'm taking three: Immunology, Botany (the millstone around my neck, but at least there is a different prof this semester) and Cultural Journalism (my next assignment? write a personal blog post). Plus, if all goes to plan, I'm graduating in May! \o/!

Comics have continued to eat my brain, sharing the time with Sherlock Holmes. God, the new movie is slashtasticly wonderful. I've started SH fic and it will be done (it is completely plotted out in my head and I have over 700 words written).

Next Thursday, bipagan, et al., are heading up for fairestcat's wedding. Can't wait! (zomg, you're getting married, Cat! *hugs*).

Home safe and sound from vividcon. Had a lot of fun this year, but came home with no voice and a sore throat.

Going to go thud in short order (and convince my cat that she still loves me).

In a little over two weeks, fairestcat is moving to Canada and I am moving to a new apartment. This calls for a party. So, we're going to have the biggest party since our housewarming at The House That Slash Built! Go in with a bang, go out with a bang.

Date: Sunday, August 2nd
Time: 3:00pm-late
Location: The backyard of my new apartment, comment and I will email you the address.
Food: To be determined, but please let us know of any dietary restrictions.
Drink: We will provide a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages but interesting contributions will be loved on a whole lot.
Fun stuff: Fire pit, bbq, right on a creek.

It is ungodly hot in my apartment so I am laying mostly naked in bed with an icepack on my forehead, drinking a cold beer (not the good stuff, refridgeration is a terrible thing to do to a good beer...), reading porn and my cat starting to lick my hand.

This is my life.

A couple of weeks ago I went to Dane Ferals adoption Saturday at MadCat pet supply. I promptly fell head over heels in love with a big gray tabby (almost as big as Dreadful) named Hoss who had wandered away from a farm. Hoss looks so much like Eva, except that he is bigger, has yellow eyes and an angular face. Also, five minutes after meeting me, he sat in my lap and relaxed (didn't purr, but that's to be expected in a strange place). He'll be moving in with me on August first when I move into my new place!!!!

If he accepts it, I am going to be changing his name to Illya. I can't really imagine myself calling "Hoss, here kitty kitty kitty, here boy"...

I can't wait! I need to call his foster parents and see if I can get a photo of him to post. I was going to save pictures of him from the Dane Ferals website, but by the time I had finished looking at all the kitties up for adoption his profile was down (they take down a cat's profile when an adoption is pending.)

Eva is going to be a bit freaked, moving in and then less than day later a new cat arriving, but I figure it will be less traumatic than her staying for two weeks at the old apartment with me only being there in the day. YAY FOR KITTIES (and damn good local rescue organizations!).

And now, for bed because I am going to be up at 4am to go with bipagan to the Slay-a-Thon.

I signed the lease to my new apartment tonight! And then had an impromptu barbeque with my new roommate and several other people who live in the apartment building. It was a very good time and my new place is very non-heteronormative \o/!
